BUDDHIST RAJASTHAN |
|
The History of Buddhism in Rajasthan dates back to 261-260 BC, when the great Emperor Ashok of Mauryan Dynasty sent his ambassadors of peace to the various parts of India as well as of world. Not only this, to strengthen his belief in Buddhism be sent his son Mahendra to
Nepal and daughter Sanghmitra to Sri Lanka. Ashok was a great warrior, but in his last days he showed his belief in peace and adopted the teachings of Buddhism. Though, it is a matter of discussion for academicians.
